Let me ask you,

What do you think about, what you do in your career or any aspiration is just because you know ‘how’ to do it or it is because of ‘why’ you do it ?

There is one wonderful quote which I have modified a bit; it says,

‘If you get an opportunity to work on and you don’t know ‘how’ to do, grab it if it connects with your ‘why’ and you can eventually learn ‘how’ to do it in the journey to make it happen!

Look at some of the great examples like,

Thomas Edison – he did not know how to create a vacuum in the bulb, what voltage to use, which filament to use. But, he eventually found out and invented a light bulb!

Wright brothers – they did not know how can human make a flying machine but eventually they made it reality !

Every great invention and revolution is a result of ‘Why’ and not ‘How’!

I will take you thru the two different scenarios to prove this point further.

Let us visualize that, there is one of the beautiful place which is just 3 hr drive from your location. I believe that nature is a storehouse of joy and pleasure. The place has one of the beautiful resort surrounded with nature rich landscape of over 100 acres. You can live here with flowing streams, the sounding waterfalls, the dancing winds, the smiling flowers and the lofty mountains.

Now, consider the 1st scenario, you get chance of a free stay in this resort for a night for one of the weekend. You have map in your hand, a car to drive. At the same time, you are busy with your personal work and don’t have time. What you will do ?

Even as per pareto principle, 80% would land up dropping the idea of visiting the resort.

Now 2nd scenario, this time there is information that your family has visited the resort and they are stuck there as the resort caught under the fire. Now you don’t have car, & don’t have map. At the same time you are still busy with your personal work and don’t have time. What you will do?

This time you will surely walk, run or whatever you could do to reach the place you will do it.

Understand, any small small activity you want to achieve or dream of acquiring it, find out what’s the reason or ‘why’ you would do it rather than ‘how’ can you do it !

Most of the time, we observe that we start some activity with full passion but don’t end up in accomplishing it!

Most of the time we give up just because of challenges or adversity we face during the journey. This happens only because ‘why’ – reason of doing the activity was not strong.

If you don’t have strong reason to do anything, you will fall back in comfort zone or so called challenges of life ! You will find all the excuses not to do what is required to be done and you will start falling back in the situation where you initiated. On other hand, many times most of them continue doing the activities of so called ‘career’ even if someone don’t like them just because of common ‘why’ i.e. to meet the financial commitments !

It is purely someone’s choice to accept the challenges and do what he or she always want to do in life or just continue doing the regular stuff without any interest just because need to meet the ends.

I always ask few questions to myself before doing anything to know ‘why’ I must do it which keeps me on the right track. I am sharing few of such questions here. I would do if anything connects me to noble or a great reason else better I choose to keep silent or away from it. I believe I am aspire to inspire and lead with great example ! Can we practice asking such questions to our self to have better ‘why’ in anything we do ?

Am I going to be a de-motivation or inspiration ?

Am I going to create a shameful image of mine or great example to follow ?

Am I going towards my dreams, goals or getting distracted by doing this ?

Am I creating a negative impact or positive change ?

Am I going to be part of making someone’s fun or making someone smile ?

Am I doing it to be part of someone’s love or someone’s hate ?

Am I helping someone to grow or pushing someone to fail ?

Am I going to be part of just a resolution or creating a revolution ?

Am I doing it for my own selfish reason or is it for noble cause ?

I will share few of my very personal examples now,

I wanted to do farming and didn’t know ‘how’ but I had a reason to make it happen. I learned, explored and delegated the responsibilities and could eventually started actively making it happen over last 2 years now. I am happy that, I could feed few farmer families with this and today I can think of growing my food on my own farm and eat it fresh and healthy!

I want to become a great leader and an entrepreneur but not knowing ‘how’ ! However, with my strong ‘why’ I could get connected with few great people, strong leaders and wonderful masterminds who help me nurture my thoughts. I am very much on the way and I have lot of things to learn, explore and adopt!

I did not know, how to reach out with my thoughts to the world making some difference. But, my reason is strong as I always want to stay in hearts of people. Eventually, I found out digital platform to reach out to you and I am happy to see my heart count is increasing by leaps and bounds.
